Operated by: SA eCommerce Chamber NPC, trading as SA eChamber
Reg No: [INSERT CIPC NO]
Email: kagiso.monosi@outlook.com | Phone: +27 72 909 8611 | Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa

We follow the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). This policy tells you what we collect, why, and what your rights are.

1. Who is responsible
SA eChamber is the "responsible party" for your info.
Information Officer: Kagiso Monosi
Contact: kagiso.monosi@outlook.com | +27 72 909 8611
Address: Johannesburg, South Africa — Full street address on all invoices and sent on request for security reasons.

2. What we collect

You give us:

    • Account details — your name, business name, CIPC number, email, phone, general address
    • Verification — ID, business registration, proof you trade (like Takealot / Shopify link)
    • Your listings — products, prices, descriptions, logos, images, reviews
    • Payment info — we don't store your card. Payments go through Paystack / Yoco / EFT. We only keep billing name and invoice
    • Messages — when you contact us or support

We collect automatically:

    • Technical info — IP address, browser, device, pages you visited, to keep the site working

From others:

    • CIPC, public business registers, and payment providers to verify you. No other third parties.

3. Why we use it

    • To create and run your membership — contract
    • To verify you and give you the chamber-verified badge — trust of the community
    • To show your listing in the Directory and Member Shop — contract
    • To process payments and send invoices — contract / legal duty
    • To send chamber updates, events, resources — you can opt out anytime
    • To keep the site safe and stop fraud — our legitimate interest
    • To follow South African law

We only use your info for the reason we collected it.

4. Marketing
We may send you chamber news, events and tips. You can unsubscribe anytime via the link in the email or by emailing us. We never sell your info for other companies to market to you.

5. How we share your info

    • Public by design: Your business name, logo, listing and verified status are public in the Directory — that's the point of joining
    • Helpers: Hosting, email (Google Workspace), payments (Paystack / Yoco), analytics — they sign confidentiality agreements
    • Verification: CIPC to check your business
    • Law: If required by law or court order

We do NOT sell your personal information.

6. Outside South Africa
Some helpers store data outside SA — e.g. Google cloud, Cloudflare. Where that happens, we make sure they protect it to POPIA standards.

7. How long we keep it

    • Membership and invoices: 5 years after you leave — tax law requires it
    • Listings: while you are a member
    • Verification docs: 1 year after verification, then deleted
    • Support messages: 2 years
After that, we delete or anonymise it.

8. Cookies
We use cookies to keep you logged in, remember preferences and see how people use the site. You can block cookies in your browser, but some parts may not work. No separate Cookie Policy needed right now.

9. How we protect it
We use reasonable technical and security measures — secure hosting, TLS encryption, limited access, strong passwords. No system is 100% safe, but we try hard. If there is a serious breach, we will tell you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

10. Your rights
Under POPIA you can:

    • Ask what info we have
    • Ask us to fix it
    • Ask us to delete it if we no longer need it
    • Say no to direct marketing
    • Withdraw consent
    • Complain to us and to the Regulator

To do this, email Kagiso at kagiso.monosi@outlook.com. We may need to verify your ID first.

11. Complaint to the Regulator
If you think we mishandled your info, please tell us first so we can fix it.

You can also complain to:
Information Regulator South Africa
Website: inforegulator.org.za
Email: complaints.IR@justice.gov.za / POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za

12. Children
Our services are for 18+. We don't collect info from children.

13. Changes
We may update this policy. We will post the new date and email you about big changes. If you keep using the site, you accept it.
